Recycled Capital Grant Fund can now be used for fire safety works

Homes England has confirmed that it has made a change to the permitted uses for Recycled Capital Grant Funding (RCGF), confirming that RCGF can now be used to fund fire safety works arising from the Fire Safety Act 2021.

The Capital Funding Guide has been updated to reflect the change in the list of permitted uses for RCGF, which you can access in the chapter on grant recovery. Our understanding from Homes England is that as a newly permitted use of RCGF, registered providers will have to seek its approval, providing evidence of the business case to support a decision. Housing associations wishing to use RCGF for this purpose should contact the Historical Grants Team.
