Household Support Fund launched

29 April 2022

The Household Support Fund has been doubled to £1bn in an effort to assist families with the cost of living. It will run for six months until September 2022.

A third of the funding will be reserved for assistance to families with children, and another third for pensioners to meet their essential household costs.

Local authorities will determine how to best use the remaining funds using their local knowledge - within the limits set by ministers. Previously, funding has supported households with food, clothing, energy and water costs, and this extension will extend this support into the autumn.

If you are interested in finding out what services are available in your area through the Household Support Fund, please contact your local council. You can locate your council using the GOV.UK council finder.
