National Housing Federation appoints new chair, Maggie Galliers CBE

21 June 2022

The National Housing Federation has announced that Maggie Galliers CBE has been selected to become its new Chair, starting in September.

Maggie has over a decade of non-Executive experience in the education sector, recruiting and performance managing CEO’s and senior executives at both local and national level. Previous to this she worked in education for over 40 years, including 15 years acting as CEO at several colleges.

Most recently Maggie has served as chair of The National Learning and Work Institute since 2016 and is Pro Chancellor and Chair of Council for Buckinghamshire New University. She was awarded a CBE in 2009 in recognition of her services to local and national further education.

Maggie will replace Baroness Diana Warwick of Undercliffe who has served in the role since 2015.

Kate Henderson Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation, says:

“Maggie’s wealth of experience was striking, alongside her passion for providing people with the essential tools to succeed in life. Coming from education, she brings to the role a strong understanding of the links between decent housing, inclusion and people reaching their full potential.

“We very much look forward to welcoming Maggie as our new Chair in September and I would like to thank Diana for her continued invaluable work and true dedication to our members and their residents over the last seven years.”

Maggie Galliers, CBE says:

“I’m delighted to accept the opportunity to act as chair for an organisation that has a distinctive mission and a proud tradition as the voice of England’s housing associations. I look forward to getting to know housing association members across the country and the full diversity of the work they do to support residents and their local communities.

“I hope to make a valuable contribution to their mission which, at a time when life is getting harder for the poorest in society, has never been more important.”

Baroness Diana Warwick, current Chair of the National Housing Federation, says:

“It has been a privilege to serve as chair of the National Housing Federation and help shape housing policy to support housing associations to deliver high quality homes and services to residents and a vital safety net for future generations. I look forward to passing the baton to someone who I know will continue the enthusiasm and passion I have had for this role.”
