New plans to protect and vaccinate rough sleepers

22 December 2021

Eddie Hughes MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Rough Sleeping and Housing at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has issued a letter to local authorities indicating that they should accommodate rough sleepers and connect them with support to receive their coronavirus vaccination. This is accompanied by £28m of funding - £25m for accommodation and £3.2m for vaccine support. The letter includes the list of local authorities that have been allocated funding.

If the local authorities they work with are listed, housing associations are advised to approach them and offer their accommodation where available/relevant. The funding will go to local authorities and they are coordinating the response. DLUHC is asking local authorities to work with local partners, with housing associations being key.
