NHF response to UK riots

07 August 2024

There is no place in this country for the shocking displays of racism and Islamophobia we’ve seen over the last week, and we stand united as a sector alongside those who have been affected by these horrific acts of hatred and intimidation.

Many housing associations work closely with, and provide specialist housing and support for, refugees and asylum seekers, and we are proud of the work they do. Our members provide homes in diverse communities and social housing residents and staff are from diverse backgrounds.

We offer our solidarity and support to everyone affected by the riots and our members will continue to work closely with police and local authorities to ensure that residents and staff in communities across the country are protected from violence.

The Better Social Housing Review Action Plan reiterated our sector’s commitment to anti-racism and we will continue to work with our members to deliver on that pledge. It is at the heart of who we are and what we stand for.
