This webinar will provide an overview of the Commonhold White Paper, with speakers sharing their thoughts on what it means for housing associations, and how the sector should prepare.

In March 2025 the government published its Commonhold White Paper, setting out it’s proposal for how a reformed commonhold model will operate in England and Wales – following a range of recommendations from the Law Commission. This comes ahead of a draft Leasehold and Commonhold Reform Bill which will be published later this year.

In particular, we will explore:

  • How the existing commonhold scheme differs to the one outlined in the White Paper
  • Building new commonholds
  • Living in and managing new commonholds
  • The role of shared ownership in commonhold
  • The impact on lenders and insurers
  • Conversion of existing leasehold schemes to commonhold
  • Upcoming consultations on banning leasehold flats and regulating property agents
