Help us review the NHF Code of Conduct

15 May 2026

Housing associations want to ensure that everyone who works for, or represents, them is held to the highest standards of conduct.

Our Code of Conduct, last updated in 2022 sets those standards for our members and applies to individuals, board members and residents involved in the organisation’s work.

Review of the Code of Conduct

Over the coming weeks, we will review the code to ensure it reflects changes in the regulatory environment.

We want to involve members, stakeholders and residents in the review so the refreshed code reflects expectations around behaviours, culture and accountability across the sector.

We also want to ensure that members can give residents meaningful opportunities to influence and scrutinise decisions relating to the adoption or development of the code.

Survey: contributing to the review

We carried out a short, sector-wide survey to gather views on:

  • The clarity and accessibility of the current code.
  • Whether it sets the right expectations for conduct and accountability.
  • Priorities to include in the refreshed code.

It was open to board members, staff and residents. Hearing directly from residents was essential to ensure the code reflects their expectations and experiences.

Feedback from this survey will inform an updated Code of Conduct, which we expect to publish this summer, giving members time to consider adoption and implementation ahead of the October 2026 requirement.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about the review project.

Thank you for your continued support.
