Supported Housing Week

A supported home is a lifeline for thousands of people each year who need help to live independently. But after years of funding cuts, many supported housing services have already been lost, with many more now facing closure while demand continues to rise.

Right now, many schemes face impossible decisions, knowing that every closure is the loss of a safe home for someone who really needs it.

Without the right solutions, supported housing faces a worsening funding situation, more service closures, and even more pressure on our vital public services, including the NHS, social care, homelessness services, and the criminal justice system.

For the people who call supported housing home, this could mean longer stays in hospital, having no where to go after experiencing domestic abuse or even facing homelessness and rough sleeping.

That’s why we’re growing our campaigning work, calling for a secure future for supported housing and running the first ever Supported Housing Week from 19-23 October 2026.

Why are we raising awareness of supported housing?

Supported housing is a lifeline for the people who need it the most in our society, but not enough key decision makers understand and see first-hand the difference it makes, and what it takes to deliver lasting positive change.

Through an awareness week, we can shine a light on life changing services, really show why the system must work better, and make ambitious calls for key solutions to secure the future of supported housing.

During Supported Housing Week we want you to have meaningful conversations with decision makers, organise firsthand visits to services and to amplify resident stories, showing the real impact their home has had.

The Future of Supported Housing Project

Our campaign this year is linked to our ambitious new project with think tank New Local: The Future of Supported Housing Project. The project aims to develop evidence-based recommendations and build a strong case for change. These will inform our campaign recommendations for the government and key decision makers and help us call for a secure future for supported housing.
