National Board Member Network - April 2023

The poor quality of some social housing has been in the spotlight over the last 18 months. The Better Social Housing Review, run by an independent panel commissioned by the NHF and CIH, spent six months investigating this issue and has produced a detailed report and recommendations, to drive improvements in the quality of social housing homes.

At this meeting we discussed the review with a panel of speakers, providing an overview of the main findings and recommendations, and discussing the role of boards in taking this forward in order to drive improvements in the quality of homes.

We also heard about the Roadmap to equality: an inclusive future. Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are integral to housing associations’ work and to excellent governance. Alongside a group of board members, and in partnership with Altair, we've developed a series of resources to help you lead on this work. We will discuss how your board can contribute to our action plan and our work on the roadmap to equality: creating an inclusive future.
