Local supported housing strategies: working together for change

15 July 2026

On 3 July, over 100 people from housing, local, regional and central government, health and social care joined our local supported housing strategies event.

This event aimed to demonstrate how the supported housing sector can support the delivery of much needed local strategies across the country. It was also as a key milestone in our ongoing work to build a strong cross-sector coalition to champion supported housing and secure its future.

Although places at the event were limited, on this page you can catch up with sessions recorded at the event, as well as access resources and information about the local supported housing strategies.

What are local supported housing strategies?

Under the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act, local authorities are required to produce supported housing strategies, to be published by March 2027. As part of this requirement, local authorities will assess and submit data on the current supply and projected need for supported housing over the next five years, and create a delivery plan to meet that need.

Housing associations are key partners in both the delivery and development of strategies and will need to work closely with their local authorities. This event marked the start of important conversations into how working together can secure a bright future for supported housing.
